Oh, I am right there, girlfriend: I admit I have worked on macs since ... well, since they were invented, practically. So I know where to LOOK for problems ... but don't think that means I really know what's going ON in there.

Things I have learned from reading bedtime stories:
Murder is perfectly ok as long as you can profit by it. Jack and the Beanstalk. Hansel & Gretel. Three Little Pigs. Little Red Riding Hood ... _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Ghandi

Snow White... Cinderella... Sleeping Beauty... someone evil always dies or "disappears" in a Walt Disney movie. _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

The mother. It's always the mother. Seriously, how many Disney flicks can you think of where the kids have a happy, well-adjusted mother? Even BAMBI, fer cryin' out loud!
And while I am on the subject, Bambi was a guy ... how come we think of Bambi as a girl's name? _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Ghandi

I'm assuming because Bambi was so sweet and innocent and caring...
... and they were mostly step moms who were the most evil... the ones who didn't really want the kids when they married the dude for his money and power. Isn't that what happens everywhere?
Disney movies sell evil and sex... only in a much more subdued fashion... mostly for adults. I don't necessarily trust that a Disney is really made for kids.
You know... nursery rhyms can be quite violent and evil... almost villainous at times. Even Jack and Jill was violent... you just know there was a wicked step mom at the top of that hill who threw poor Jack back down and slapped Jill's face. I can still feel the sting. _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

I refuse to let my kids watch the Disney Channel (admittedly, I don't let Scooter watch ANYthing yet ...). The original "comedies for kids" on that channel teach nothing but Grow up Fast, Talk back to your Parents, Cop and Attitude ... _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Through the Lion King, there were only two Disney animated movies where both parents were alive at both the beginning and end of the movie (afterwards they started making a concerted effort for a while because it was pointed out on the internet and they tried to repair their "family friendly" image).
Those two movies?

You can actually stretch that further: Tarzan came after Lion King.
What about Lady and the Tramp? Technically, the parents are married at the beginning and at the end ... _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Ghandi

No no ... the HUMAN family. Her owners. And since a lot of times owners think of themselves as the parents of their pets ... _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Ghandi

That bedtime prayer used to scare the bejesus outta me. Still a little freaky. What about:
"If the bough breaks
the cradle will fall
and DOWN WILL COME BABY CRADLE AND ALL"
Scary stuff. Of course, the "real" versions of Grimm Brother's stories are far more gruesome than the toned down versions we all know now. _________________ "Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul." - GD |

How about "Away in a Manger"?

a bit too morbid for my tastes. once it dawned on me how depressing they all were i stopped thinking they were so cute. _________________

OK, so I have a question: if he DIDN'T shoot the deputy ... who DID?
I think it was the sheriff ... _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Ghandi
