Somebody I know Xcheck24 also follows on twitter has posted a couple things on her tumblr about Banned Books week (this week).
I particularly like the line: Free people read freely.
I also like her challenge to:

Pick one of these and:
Read it out loud today. To anyone.
Read it in public.
Record yourself reading a passage.
Post about one of these books and what you learned from it and why it’s important to you.
Encourage someone else to read it.

Of those on that part of the list I've read 5. I might want to check out the whole list to see how many of them I've read. Coming from an education back ground I'm familiar with almost all of them even if I haven't read them. _________________ Is this my reality or yours? |

From the top 100 list, I noticed Brave New world made it by 1984 did not. Last year I read both of these books... I read Brave New World in school but had never been required to read 1984. I decided to take it upon myself to do so.
What a powerful and eye opening book that is!!
Of this list, I have only read one. I have the Harry Potter series but I'm just not interested in starting them. Many of these books are not something I would normally want to read. _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

Both good books.
I'm still puzzling over the adjective, "returning to their Orwellian gated communities." A reference to 1984? _________________ Cruising the Green of Second Avenue is available at Barnes & Noble and other online book sellers. More good stuff at http://allotropiclucubrations.blogspot.com |
