Anybody read Orson Scott Card's collection of short stories called Maps in a Mirror? He divides his stories into Tales of Dread (horror), Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and.... Other (ok maybe it's just that I can't remember what the other groupings are). I'm wondering if anybody who is a "horror" fan has read the tales of dread and had opinions on them. I'm not a horror reader usually, but I found some of his shorts pretty interesting.

Hey CharlesP

Just started this book, I will give you a complete critique at week's end.

but I wanted any one intereseted in reading/writing HORROR to read the introduction to this book.

I think it is the best review of the genre I've read in ages and it shows how horror for the sake of horror is becoming flat and a dying art. We need to go back to dread, suspense and fear building in the genre, pulling the readers in to feel the character's panic. That's truly scary!

hehe.. I thought you might like his intro... but as a non-horror reader/writer I wasn't sure. I found it very interesting... but I didn't know if it was just me.

I read this awhile back. I don't care for his horror ones. I mean, they're good for horror, but I don't care for them.

just getting into them and withholding an opinion until I'm done, but the intro was great!

King would be proud!
