Little Timmy was bubbling with excitement. He’d been talking about the night’s upcoming events all day long. Tonight was going to be his first trick-or-treating, and he simply couldn’t hold back his excitement as he was forced to wait until the day got a little darker.

Mike looked on with pride as his son paraded around in his Halloween costume. It was a cloth outfit that covered his whole body except his face. It made him look like a tiger walking on his hind legs, complete with tail. Well, actually, it looked like a kid in a tiger costume, but parents never really see things as they really are.

Timmy’s tension and excitement grew all day long. Mike couldn’t even get Timmy to eat much, since he was “saving room” for all the candy he figured to accumulate that night.

Finally, the sun began to go down, darkening the skies just enough for Timmy’s first ever trip trick-or-treating. He was so excited, he was practically walking on his tip-toes.

He pulled at Mike until he got off the couch, then put his hand inside his father’s and they walked down to the far end of the street. Mike explained to him that this way, there would be less time from the last house to being able to eat some of the candy. Timmy couldn’t wait, and began to pull at Mike’s arm toward the door.

They walked up to the door, and Mike released Timmy’s hand to ring the doorbell. Suddenly, Timmy became nervous. He didn’t know the people who lived here. What if they were monsters or something? What if they were bad guys? Suddenly Timmy was actually scared.

Mike rung the doorbell, and waited patiently for the door to open. When it finally did, the person behind the door spoke, “Yes?”

Mike looked around. Timmy was gone. He glance frantically from side to side, only to see a figure with a tail running as fast as possible back towards the house. A smile grew across his face and he replied, “Trick or Treat?” Then burst out laughing. “It looks like he wasn’t quite ready enough after all!” Then pointed at the small figure down the street.

I haven't 100% confirmed the age, but am 95% sure of it, if my dad [Mike] would e-mail me back, I'd know for sure. I know it was my first time, and being born on 30 Nov, it seems right given what I know of my development (age walked, age ate solid food, etc). The other case (23 mos) seems off too far...

Argggh! Now I have to tear my place apart looking for my baby book! I can't find it anywhere! If memory serves, I was walking at 8 mos. I was eating solid food (ok, maybe not totally solid, but no longer only milk) at 2-3 mos...
