Well... I mentioned this at some point, but didn't really clarify. If you're posting something beyond G rated banter, please just stick a little disclaimer in the subject. Here's the guidelines to look at.
G = most of what is being posted, no need to rate.
PG = mild swearing; implied violence; mild sexual innuendo
PG13 = swear words; mild violence; moderate sexual innuendo
R = Sexual content; brutal violence
X = If anybody wants to post something in this genre... we'll set up an area not open to the general public that you can request to join
We don't want to censor anybody's writing, but we also don't want to offend anybody if it can be easily avoided.

Good point. If it's inappropriate, you can always use those handy characters across the top of you're keyboard to get your point across without causing trouble. exp. %#@&$!!
BTW, is there any age limit on this site? |

There isn't an age limit per se, but if a person is under 13 they need a parent to sign off and mail in a form (which you should get via e-mail when you register if you're honest and SAY you're under 13). There are some federal regulations that require us to have that on file, basically to protect our butts, AND the keep any younger members "safe". If you're under 13 you may be interested in wordtripjr.com which is our forums just for younger readers and writers. It's a little slow right now, but hopefully it will pick up as well (I also hope that some of our members here who are teachers and such might sign up over there and give a few critiques as well).

Perhaps ther should be a link to this from the FAQ. (as well as Jill's notes on marking subject lines for critiques, etc.) _________________ My blog is at http://anblicksanamorphosis.blogspot.com/ |

Thanks, It's rough to try and figure out what to search for to find specifics on the "rules" of the site... _________________ My blog is at http://anblicksanamorphosis.blogspot.com/ |

OK, for graphic horror, I gotta wonder what would constitute an X rating. I might have one, and could use the feed back. Can I ask for e mail crits?
that seems to be the best way. If we have something we need critted that has adult content, we can post the title in a separate topic, then ask if anyone wants to crit it and list why we think it might be an x rated piece. _________________ http://www.susiehawes.com

Hi Ghostposts...
You could get a crit by PM if you like and/or you could join a writing group (we have three right now) in which the rooms are locked accept to members of that group.
When you're in a group, you would also give your post a rating such as: Name of Story (rating R, graphic horror).
Let me know if you want to join a group! _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

I belong to a website that requires that you put up a rating on your work. I am thankful that this site has taken the time to suggest this idea too. We don't want to stifle writers - face it, some characters just talk however they feel like it, no matter what the author has planned - but we feel readers should at least know what they are getting into. _________________ "Throughout history, Truth and Love have always won." - M. Ghandi
