my thought exactly... lol
New joke:
A pupil told his kindergarten teacher that he had found a frog, and she inquired as to whether it was a live or dead.
"Dead," the student informed.
"How do you know?" the teacher asked.
"Because I pissed in his ear," said the child innocently.
"You did what?" replied the surprised teacher.
"You know," explained the boy, "I leaned over and went 'Pssst.' The frog didn't move."
KIDS! ya gotta love 'em... well sometimes ya gotta... _________________

WHAT?!! no one liked my joke the day? sheesh... what does it take to please you people?
i am busy trying not to get frustrated that i can't pack for the move yet - which i guess should be a good thing because it means we don't have a bunch of extra crap we don't use, right? we get the keys tonight and can start moving anytime after that. having this much time to move makes me nervous! lol i'm used to only having like 2 weeks between finding a place and the actual move. this is going on a month and 1/2. crazy!
then there is my "adult" son who i finally put my foot down to and told him that since he is now technically in college, he has to have a job before we move or he will have to find somewhere else to live. he hasn't had a job since last september and doesn't seem to care that he doesn't have any money - and all he does is sit around and play on the internet... grrrr... yep, time to put the ol' foot down and MEAN IT!
is it time to go home yet? _________________

I'm sure it's time to go home by now.
My version of your joke came from Sam a year or two ago. He came up to Alicia and said: "Grandma left her penises in the refridgerator" which confused my wife to no end as Grandma doesn't have one of those, and she was pretty sure they don't detach at will. So she asked him to clarify. "You know, that bag of boiled penises grandma brought, she left them in the fridgerator." Clarity dawned and she realized that he was talking about a bag of boiled Peanuts... and maybe now we know why he was so hesitant to try Peanut Butter. _________________

now THAT is hysterical! cp? you posted at 4:30 in the morning??? yikes! oh wait... that MY time not yours. heehee my kids never said anything that funny... the best story i have is when my 4th grader put glue on the teacher's chair and she asked him if he did it and his reply (which indicates i was watching WAAAAYYY too much CSI) was "you don't have any DNA evidence on me!".
Two tourists were driving through Louisiana. As they were approaching Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town.
They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the blonde employee, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are... very slowly?"
The blonde girl leaned over the counter and said, "Burrrrrrrr, gerrrrrrr, Kiiiiing."
okay... so that one is really all THAT funny... oh well. _________________

Okay, i admit i am an american idol watcher and i am totally crushing on Jason Castro. a kid with an innocence about him with voice i am finding interesting enough to download his songs (gasp!) from itunes.
i must find poetry in it as i need to write and have lost my muse. _________________

I don't really get into Idol... the judges irritate me. But there have been some talented people come out of it!

Hmmm... an interesting thought. Perhaps mine isn't lost either but instead standing next to me jumping up and down saying "over here, moron!!". She's given me a little poke now and then and I write a poem here or there or the time-travel-thingy... but mostly "life" seems to drown her out. _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

damn muse... i think it's mute cuz she ain't making any noise!
(btw: totally cute pic jill!!!)
why oh why have i not invested in a cheap truck... as much as i move, you'd think i'd have done that by now. instead we either have to pay for a piece of crap Uhaul truck or try and find a friend with a truck. thought we'd be able to borrow the bf "shop" truck but , get this, the ex brother in law of the owner (who is out of town for two weeks) has decided he has free use of the truck the whole time. so much for saving money on the move. not like much fits in my miata. lol _________________

my painting project was...ugh...if you ever want to try textured paints, just say NO and run away! it was a disaster and i ended up buying another can of paint of the similar color with no texture to fix it. looks okay now thank goodness. this weekend we move it all....and the oldest son has to figure out where he is living because he still, after a month and a half warning, has NO job. no job, no house. maybe his dad will take him in.
yay mariners! got my first tickets of the season for sunday's game - taking my daughter and my younger son (for the daughters 12th birthday). whoohoo! _________________

whew...moved out and still moving in. the painting turned out well (after a few mishaps) and the new place is starting to take shape. now i have a whole new set of issues to deal with. wish i could just have no drama for awhile - th ex, however, has different plans and is now trying to keep me from seeing my two younger kids... sigh... why does he need to be such an ass?! _________________

wow - been awhile. okay...rants and raves...
rants:
1) my job...feels like there i'm being babysat
2) money....sucks to not have any
3) sleep deprivation
4) lack of energy to exercise even tho i really do want to
5) the mariners - man do they stink or what?!
6) feeling like "background" to the other half at night when i get home from work and he starts playing his video game
okay... better balance it out with some raves:
1) having my car back!
2) planning a two week vacation/road trip
3) getting to see jill on that road trip/vacation
4) roast and potatoes and carrots in a crockpot! lol
5) hmmm...it's getting harder...okay, having a roof over my head
6) and finally, having a job even tho i'm not liking it at the moment
so... not sure if that covers it but there ya go! _________________

was reading on mudge's blog the whole conversation about happiness...and now i wonder. do we trick ourselves into believing we are, because it is easier to accept the way things are than to make a change? sometimes i feel happy with where i am but then i wonder if i've just settled into what i have and accepted it because the options are gone.
example... our jobs. i'm okay with my job, though there are certainly things about it that i really don't like. however, i am also financially stuck doing what i do because i can't afford to start from the ground and work my way up again. if i were to change my profession, i couldn't pay the bills - and i can't say that the ambiance of a cardboard box life would make me any happier.
then we have our relationships. for so much of our lives we have had images of what the perfect relationship is... what the other person should do for us, feel for us. so we get into a relationship that works, except it doesn't fit the profile. are we simply choosing to accept it because it's easier than changing?
introspection sucks. _________________

possibly. but the other option, exists, too: That maybe the profile - born in Disneyfied deconstructions of the Brothers Grimm and nurtured by books, movies, television and the advertising industry - to their benefit - for years - is wrong.

These thoughts of "Am I too happy and do I deserve it" or "I'm miserable and I deserve it" are one of the reasons we fall to our knees in shame when people tell us we're evil for being greedy or "too happy" while others in the country, or more specifically around the world, look to us as Americans and say "those evil Americans are greedy and don't deserve their happiness". I throw down my 40-hour a week, low paying hourly job and yell "Bullshit".
Not only is it every person's right to be happy... or miserable if that's what they want or choose... but it's our right to feel proud of what we've accomplished or failed to accomplish. I know it sounds weird... why would anyone be proud of failure. Well, because if you fail that typically means you at least tried.
Sorry... little burst of tangent and personal anguish... I'm tired of being made to feel guilty for being what I am while others want to take it all away and give it to someone else who didn't even TRY to make their own mark in the world. And when someone legitimately DID try and others still want to take from me to give to them, I still feel pretty jaded about the whole thing because tolerance is not pretty... why would I want to be tolerant... what I should be is helpful and caring of others from within my soul... not forced into it by idealist, the government or fanatical nut-jobs who think they need to MAKE ME HAPPY by making me GIVE IT ALL AWAY.
Sigh... sorry... _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

LOL - well thank you for the rant... and i have to say i agree...
so i interviewed for a job last week - got very positive feedback and although i would really like to work there they aren't sure yet what exactly they want. sigh... so i'm essentially on hold. so i was talking to my employment agency contact who said "didn't sound like it was your dream job" - hello? we are talking about WORK here right? last time i checked work was still a four-letter word!
my dream "job" if there is such a thing would be one where i could write poetry, read books, and socialize when and where i wanted. i'm fairly sure no one is going to pay me what i need to earn to do that.
for now, however, i would be happy to have autonomy, some personal space, no one micromanaging me and a place to work with a window. that can't be asking for too much can it??? _________________

In response to all the comments on rights to be happy:
AHEM,
Life is a sucking, swirling mass of despair highlighted by brief glimpes of false hope in an ever-expanding universe.

well if "music has the charms to soothe the savage beast" i suppose words could have the magic to soothe a lonely woman? okay, so now that we've established that it's possible that words could work... are you volunteering???
sigh... i am suffering from lack of sleep. not sure why but it is a horrible feeling waking up to the alarm and literally stumbling out of bed, legs wobbling underneath you, eyes puffy, looking as exhausted as you feel - it just dawned on me, as tired as i was this morning, that i threw my hair up in a bearclaw clip and didn't even bother to comb it. now, mind you, it doesn't look like i didn't take any time on it but I KNOW... *shrug* what's a girl to do? _________________

I know what you mean... I'm so damn tired I can hardly hold my head up at work. As a matter of fact, I'm at home right now and can hardly keep my eyes open. But of course I need to to make dinner and make sure everyone is doing whatever they need to do... but I may just take a nap here pretty soon. _________________ Sometimes I think it's a shame when I get feeling better when I'm feeling no pain. |

I've discovered that one of the best places to people watch is the bus. i take it every day and see so many different people. i suppose there is poetry there somewhere... wonder if i can find it.
we took a drive to the mountains this weekend. i tend to forget the beauty that surrounds me here. sunshine, blue skies, evergreen trees, open road, wind in my hair, then throw in burgers at Tom, Dick & Harry's Drive In and a whoohoo (going 120 mph passing a car that was passing a semi) and we have an AWESOME day!
